These are US-dollar estimates; each reader quotes in their own currency. Ask for one total that covers travel and setup, and check whether your venue needs proof of insurance.

Four to eight weeks ahead for normal weekends. October dates, December holiday parties and New Year's Eve book out earliest, often two to three months ahead. Short notice? Use the enquiry form on a published profile to ask about your date and guest count.

For large weddings, book two readers side by side. One reader sees 4 to 6 guests per hour.

Cocktail hour works well - it gives guests something to do during photos, typically 90-120 minutes.
