Planning tarot for a wedding
Cocktail hour is where a tarot reader earns their keep: guests need something to do while photos happen, and a reading corner keeps energy up without competing with dinner or speeches. Two hours covers most cocktail-hour windows; at 4–6 guests per hour, one reader comfortably serves a table’s worth of guests, and larger weddings often book two readers so the line never builds.
Placement matters more than at any other event: put the reader inside the flow of the cocktail space, not in a separate room — guests wander to a visible table but rarely seek out a hidden one. A small sign like “the card table” and a two-chair setup is all the staging needed.
Brief the reader on tone beforehand. Experienced wedding readers keep readings short, warm, and future-positive, and they know to redirect anything heavy — it is a celebration, and the readings are entertainment, not counseling. Confirm arrival time against your photo schedule and whether the venue needs a vendor certificate of insurance.

Frequently asked
When during the wedding do guests usually get readings?
Cocktail hour is most popular - it gives guests something to do during photos, typically 90-120 minutes.
Can a tarot reader handle 50+ guests?
For large weddings, book a Featured reader or two readers simultaneously. One reader sees 4-6 guests per hour.
Do I need to tell guests in advance?
Most couples keep it as a fun surprise. A brief table announcement works well.
