In Sydney, tarot readers typically charge US$150 to US$350 an hour, and a typical two-hour booking runs US$350 to US$700. Most event readers set a two-hour minimum. These are US-dollar estimates; each reader quotes in their own currency. Some readers charge more on New Year's Eve, so ask for one total that includes travel.

New Year's Eve is a busy night for party entertainers, so book in November if you can. Short notice? Use the enquiry form on a published profile to ask about your date and guest count.

At about 4 to 6 guests an hour, a two-hour booking before the countdown covers roughly 8 to 12 guests. For a bigger party, book two readers or keep readings to a single card.

A year-ahead reading suits the night, when guests are already thinking about the twelve months ahead.

Short year-ahead spreads of 10 to 15 minutes keep the queue moving so everyone gets a reading before or after the countdown.
